Finished reading: Tune In by Mark Lewisohn ๐A must read for any Beatles fan. This history of the early, pre-fame years of the Fab Four is incredibly well researched. What strikes me most is how different The Beatles were even at this stage and the combination of personality and ambition that drew people to them.
Currently reading: Tune In by Mark Lewisohn ๐Reading the chapter on โthe Boyโsโ first trip to Hamburg. Love this quote from Klaus Vormann about the effect Ringo had on the band โevery time Ringo came near the Beatles it was happiness โ.

The Life of Brian
Finished reading the chapter โThe Swish of the Curtainโ from the Mark Lewisohn book โTune In, The Beatles: All these Years Vol 1โ today. The chapter details the early life and career of Brian Epstein. While Brian certainly had many triumphs in his short life, it is so sad to read about how tortured he felt about being gay and the shame that accompanied this. Even more sad to think of the innumerable others that must have felt the same throughout much of history. ๐ ๐ถ
